Description: Sr. Network Engineer
This position demands a Sr. Network Engineer in a Production/UAT/DEV role with a working knowledge of Microsoft Clustering/UNIX/LINUX operating systems. The candidate should be proficient in trouble shooting, performance tuning, replication and backup/recovery strategies. The individual should possess excellent communication skills. The individual must be comfortable adapting to a rapidly moving client focus and must be adept at multitasking. Knowledge and expertise in Network Infrastructure high availability and EMC SAN environment. The individual has to support a distributed application for users in multiple locations and therefore should possess strong problem solving, debugging and database maintenance skills. Also critical would be the ability to manage change and effectively test fixes and enhancements and adhere to SDLC principles. The individual will provide QA and Production data communication networks. User acceptance test, quality assurance, performance and production environments. The position will consist of both systems and application responsibilities for large-scale MSDB's on multiple clustered and non-clustered Windows, Unix, Linux platforms.
Responsibilities include:
Installation, configuration, maintenance design, engineering, of one or several of the following disciplines. Local and Wide Area Networks, Data Centers, VOIP Networks, Security Appliances, and Wireless Networks.
Engineering duties include:
Install, support and configure Cisco routers and switches as well as all necessary security solutions. Provide ongoing network maintenance, including updates and security patches Monitor, evaluate, and solve potential network performance issues. Manage Cisco infrastructure related and other network requests and problems.
Develop and maintain documentation related to the installation, administration, and maintenance of network infrastructure.
Evaluate new and existing network technology. Assist with the planning and design of future network architecture.
Network monitoring, management and troubleshooting with various tools including Solar Winds Orion NPM, Netflow Traffic Analyzer and protocol analyzer.
Assist/Support other network related tasks/requirements as directed by the Management of infrastructure.
Ongoing upgrade and maintenance on internal ERP, CRM and web systems. Writing scripts to automate various tasks to enhance the network systems.
Hands-on experiences in IIS web services a huge plus .NET Framework with Visual Studio, background a huge plus.
Must be available on-call to assist with trouble tickets as needed etc.
Demonstrated proficiency with Cisco switches, Catalyst 6500s, 4700, 3500s, Nexus 7000s, 5000s and 2000s and routers; ASRs.
Solid experience with firewall administration (PIX, ASA and FWSM).
The individual will be assigned on-call responsibilities on a rotational basis, which often requires work after normal business hours
Requirements:
  • Minimum 8+ years experience in Network Infrastructure.
  • Strong Windows/Linux/Unix OS skills.
  • Dynamic Routing protocols (EIGRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, etc) and familiarity with telecommunications technologies and WAN technologies as frame-rely, MPLS, leased lines, metro-Ethernet, DS1/DS3, OC3.
  • Experience with network performance monitoring and capacity planning.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems through the use of troubleshooting skills and protocol analysis using packet captures.
  • VMware and Virtualization experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills in fault detection and resolution.
  • Strong customer skills a must. Proven leadership skills in cross function teams.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Microsoft Certifications and CCIE certification preferred.
